About

James A. Luccio Jr. is a communications specialist, multi-platform journalist, radio broadcast talent, and aspiring author.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, he graduated with a 3.8 GPA degree in broadcasting and has worked in the industry ever since.

James served as play by play and color commentator for High School Cube broadcasts in multiple locations throughout Northeast Ohio and also acted as field producer and videographer at several high profile games in 2014 and 2015.  He was the host of a popular internet radio sports show, ‘Psyched And Mic’d, during that same time which gained traction and was eventually broadcast from the historic City Club building in Downtown Cleveland.

As a former video news journalist for both WKBN 27 First News and FOX 8 Cleveland, James has covered everything from Youngstown Phantoms hockey, Lake County Captains and Akron Rubber Ducks baseball, to Major League Baseballs’ Cleveland Indians.  In 2018 the Cleveland Browns drafted quarterback Baker Mayfield and James was in the locker room during training camp getting interviews with both players and coaches.

While working at one of the last locally owned theaters in the area James honed his writing skills and provided insight and movie reviews for WINT Radio’s ‘The Wake Up Show’ (formerly ‘Wake Up Lake County’).  His passion for the big screen came in handy while working as a grip assistant and set design consultant for an Intel Processors commercial at OSV Studios in North Olmsted, Ohio, where he also had a guest appearance role.

In his time away from broadcasting James enjoys creative writing, taking in concerts and movies, going to sporting events, and spending time with family.  He is a regular attendee of Prager University and a frequent viewer of Your Move with Andy Stanley.  James has served as the morning traffic reporter and technical producer of ‘The Bob Frantz Authority’ on WHK AM 1420 The Answer which is in the top 30 market of Cleveland, Ohio, from August 2015 through April 2019.  His role with FOX 8 News ended in January 2020.

In the interview below, James talks with Ellen Foley Kessler from the “Live And Local” show on WINT Radio and discusses his beginnings with the station as an intern and what it means to be in the media business today. The station, Ellen in particular, was an integral part of James’ early success. Great listening for anyone considering a job in broadcasting. The interview originally aired on terrestrial radio the morning of Friday, November 22nd, 2019.
